Evaluations
All players are asked to attend an evaluation where 3rd party evaluators, board members, managers, and coaches evaluate the player's athletic abilities including catching, throwing, fielding, and hitting. The goal of evaluations is to slot players into divisional pools/rounds that will help preserve parity among our teams, encouraging competition and creating a safe environment for our players to learn, grow and feel successful. Player attendance for new and returning players is extremely important to help us achieve that goal.
Your child is not guaranteed to play in the division in which you registered, BRLL will move players based on skill to keep the game safer for younger inexperienced players, more competitive for older players, and generally more fun for everyone. The process will result in players of the same age playing in different divisions.
Draft
Rosters of 12 - 15 players are determined by a draft, starting with a blank slate each season. Older divisions draft first from a pool of eligible players for that division, any players not drafted in the older division are put in a pool with eligible players for the next lower division, and another draft occurs. Each subsequent division follows the same procedure until all eligible players are drafted. Your child is not guaranteed to be drafted in the division in which you registered.
Requests to play with another player or specific coach can be submitted with your registration. If two friends want to be together, please request each other. Managers are alerted to these requests in advance but due to many factors, we cannot guarantee they will be honored.
After the draft, it takes a few days for the league to finalize all rosters, please allow a few days before expecting to hear from your coach.
