A Record Record-Setting Season!!!!

We’ve now updated all the individual season and team MCBL records thru this past 2012 season.   And what a season it was!  24 of 44 individual season records were set in 2012……the most ever in one season.  Several team records were set as well.

The Maryland Red Dogs’ Christian Laidley set two all-time MCBL season records….most at-bats and most hits.  The Baltimore Panther's Trent Shaw also set two records......highest batting average and on-base percentage (for 100 + at bats).  The Gaithersburg Giants Blue’s Brandon Grove not only held on to a record he set last year (highest slugging percentage for 41-60 at bats), but set an additional four more records this year…..most runs batted in, most home runs and highest slugging and on-base percentage  (for 81 – 100 at bats).

The Baltimore Chop’s Zac Stavish not only held on to two individual records…..most walks and highest on-base percentage (61-80 at bats), he also became the first and only four time MCBL All-star player.

Pitchers made noise as well.   The Gaithersburg Giant Blue’s Kory Smigocki set three all-time MCBL season records……..lowest ERA, lowest WHIP and lowest OBA  (all 10 – 20 innings pitched).  The Baltimore Chop’s Ryan Taylor also set three new all-time season records……most innings pitched, most strikeouts, and lowest ERA (for 30 + innings).

Hats off to all who “pushed the envelope” and displayed outstanding skill/talent in the league this year!!!
