Regular Season Concludes

 

The 2014 MCBL regular season concluded last night.......with the final game (which had playoff seeding implications) going into extra innings.  The Diamond Pros demonstrated their character and talent and gave the BCC Big Train Stars all they could handle with a tense 1-1 game going into the 11th inning before BCC could push across 2 runs to take the lead and the game.

 

BCC and the Gaithersburg Giants each notched 24 victories....the second highest total ever.  BCC earned the #1 seed by virtual of the 3rd tiebreaker (e.g., fewest runs allowed head-to-head).  

 

This is the first time a new franchise has ever taken the MCBL regular season crown.  For Gaithersburg the excellence continues as this is the sixth year in a row that they have finished either first or second in the league. 

 

This is also the first time we've had five teams earn at least 20 victories....breaking the old record of three teams with at least 20 victories. 

 

The MCBL post season tournament starts Sunday with the teams seeded as follows:

#1: BCC Big Train Stars

#2: Gaithersburg Giants

#3: Putty Hill Panthers

#4: KOA Sports Warriors

#5: Baltimore Chop

#6: Dig In Baseball

 

The schedule for the first two nights has been posted (see left hand column).
