Saving Face ?
June 13, 2025
Thru the first fifth of the season, the average number of runs being scored per team was 5.46 per game.
We noticed that this was consistent with the recent downward trend of runs being scored :
2021 : 6.69
2022 : 6.54
2023 : 6.33
2024 : 5.76
We were about to do a brilliant article about how this may be a symptom, however, of the early season. We were going to provide interesting data analysis and wax eloquently about how pitchers' arms haven’t yet worn down a bit in the summer heat while batters are not yet completely used to hitting with an unforgiving wooden bat.
Then………Thursday night happened with these scores :
13-12
16-5
15-3
13-4
Teams averaged over 10 runs per game last night! A single night of games alone raised the previous season average 13 percent up to a new average of 6.17 runs per game.
We’re so glad we didn’t embarrass ourselves and write that article.
See ya at the ballfield!
