Intense competition highlighted this year’s 2008 All-Star game on July 5^th as the Maryland Collegiate Baseball League (MCBL) All-Star squad squared off against the Clark Griffith League All-Stars.

CGL hosted this wonderful event complete with souvenir programs at famed Waters Field in Vienna, Virginia.  The stands were full of family, fans, scouts and onlookers as they watched the Home Run Derby and the 9 inning All-Star game.

The three round Home Run Derby was close with MCBL’s Bryan Woolford winning by exhibiting consistent power in each round.

The game was a seesaw affair with several lead changes, exciting defensive plays and great pitching.  MCBL had runners in scoring position in 7 of the 9 innings but failed to get the key hits leaving 14 men stranded on base while falling to CGL 4-3.

MCBL congratulates all the players from both squads for being selected and representing their leagues so ably.
