Irish Juniors Volleyball Club
The Irish Juniors Volleyball Club was formed in order to provide advanced training opportunities at a very competitive cost, to avoid conflicts with simultaneous school athletic season schedules, and maximize the overall volleyball experience for its participants.
Organization:
This is “Club” Volleyball for girls in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Our volleyball club is registered with the Junior Volleyball Association and participates in 12, 13, & 14-and-under age group tournaments as appropriate.
The Irish Juniors staff is dedicated to the purpose of total player development and providing enhanced volleyball competition exposure for Indianapolis area junior high school athletes. Our goal is to provide players with the option of participating in club volleyball, with exceptional training from highly qualified coaches, yet without the high cost and travel demands associated with some of central Indiana’s alternative clubs.
For those choosing to be Irish Juniors, this is an opportunity to play club volleyball without having to compromise a school sanctioned sport; as the schedules will be designed to complement each other and avoid conflict when possible. Our philosophy is that in-season school sanctioned sports and activities should take priority.
The Irish Juniors Volleyball Club is not a highly publicized, “fill as many teams as we can”, type club. We intend to remain a small club that welcomes motivated players into our program regardless of their intended high school. Although, please realize that should the level of player interest exceed our resources for adequate gym time and coaches, selection preference may favor more demonstrated Cathedral bound applicants.
Coaches:
The majority of the coaches in the Irish Juniors program are current or previous Cathedral high school volleyball coaches and alumni players. Most played collegiately and all have high school and/or club volleyball coaching experience. This quality of coaching allows the Irish Juniors to be instructed utilizing techniques and concepts that have produced a recent national High School championship, 7 IHSAA girls’ state championships and 9 IBVCA boys’ state championships over the past 17 years.
The Irish Juniors are led by Cathedral High School Varsity Coach Mary Hemer.
Season Schedule:
The Irish Juniors 14u Blue team will play a regular season of 8 events with approximately 3 of their tournaments consisting of 2-day events. Tourney locations will primarily focus on the central Indiana region but include events in nearby cities such as Louisville, Cincinnati, Columbus, Fort Wayne, South Bend and Muncie. Some overnight weekends may be included. The team will routinely practice 3 times per week.
The rest of our Irish Juniors teams will play an estimated 6 event tournament schedule. Teams may choose to extend their season based upon consences of the families and coach availability. All of these teams will play in single day tournaments with a probable season ending 2-day event. Teams will routinely practice 2 times per week. Their seasons will typically conclude around the first week of May. Although these teams may not travel outside of the greater Indianapolis area, rest assured, they will play in quality competition. Some of these teams will “play up” an age group in certain tournaments in order to enhance the competition level.
Tryouts / Training for the 2019/2020 season:
Tryouts: All players are encouraged to attend open gym sessions. Tryouts for the Irish Juniors are anticipatedd to begin Sunday October 11th, followed by sessions that same week (TBD). Please watch our Calendar page for updates. A $50 open gym/tryout fee will be assessed at your first open gym or tryout session, which may be applied toward club fees. All participants must complete our Liability Release and Medical Release forms found in our Forms section prior to participation.
Callbacks/Open Tryouts: May occur until our rosters are filled. Although, our anticipation is that most team announcements will be made on or about Sunday October 18th.
Costs and Payment Schedule:
Club fees for the Irish Juniors teams are significantly less than similar area club team expenses! Our fees include the Irish Juniors uniform package, all practice and coaching expenses, team registrations and insurance, administrative fees and all tournament entry fees. Our estimated fee and payment schedule for the 2020/2021 season is as follows:
