LSMHL  Week FOUR:  SEVERAL CLOSE GAMES & AN OT TIE -  by C. Scott Holland

Week four's second game was certainly one of the most entertaining and close thrillers as goalies Adam Howe (Fineline) and Jake Walton (Tychon) traded saves while their offenses struggled to score. The contest ended tied 2-2 after an unusual OT which included a last second game misconduct. Reid Funeral Home took Gillett 7-4 in the finale but not without Gillett Roofing giving them a tough battles for two frames. In the opening contest Gabriele's downed HP 7-4.

EXTRA! EXTRA !! Just in from the wire:  RFH's Ty Clark has donated a couple of boxes of Cheese Bites to Tychon's Brett Bowman. Ty said, "Since he's going to be home for a bit I thought he should have something to munch on while watching the birds fly south for the winter or perhaps something to go with whatever he is drinking. Plus he can carry them around and they fo down more easily than an aspirin" Ty found out that the bird bath he really wanted to send Brett was a bit costly so he elected for something cheaper and fast to deliver.

Results for the fourth week's contests are below. Roster updates & stats are completed.

REID  7   GILETT   4

It was a good battle until the third period when Reid surged ahaeda nd stayed there.

Gillett's offense came from Darren Taylor, Quinn Bowman, Brian Whaley and Steve Peters.

The Reid attack was given a boost when Michael Hryniuk slotted two quickj third operiod ggoals to jump them into a lead they would not relinquish. Calyn Kir and Ryan Zsebok also netted two apiece while Charles Impens fired one.

TYCHON  2  FINELINE  0

What a game!! Goaltending, plenty of scoring chances and breakaways, great defensive work plus an unusual OT and overall a game to remember.

Tychon's markers came from Brett Bowman and Kristian Pelling and their last second drive to score the winner in OT was thwarted when Brett Bowman was handed a game misconduct with 12 seconds left.

Fineline's marksmen were Ian Faubert and Dylan Impens.

GABRIELE 4  HP  1

A three goal third period boosted Gabrieke into a lead that held up.

HP played another good game for two frames before faltering. Kyle Quick, Brayden Zuidema, Brian Santos and Matt Carvalho blasted one goal apiece.

Gabriele's offensive was led by Jeron Kir and Scott Florence who each drrilled a pair. Dustyn Woelk, Dylkan Montague, and Kevin Sawatzky hammered one each.

NOTES/QUOTES & SPLATS (Oct. 5, 2026 still to come.)

HOME COOKIN' :  Reids' Ty Clark had his usual swimming lessons prior to Monday night's game. He is now certifed to do bath tub deep diving, kiddie pool relaxing and hot tub floating. Unfortunately with all that hard work at teh pool Ty did not have time to cook a turkey for his teammates. And he didn;t bring any cookies or crackers either. We heard that teh grocery stores are complaining now because Ty hasn't been in to buy any cheese bites lately or peanut butter. Not sure what brand of peanut butter he's purchasing but stock in a couple companies have dropped dramatically.

TURKEY PT. 2:  We should add that Ty Clark originally was going to rest his ankle Monday night and not play. he was set to be the Reid coach for another week but the RFH team was pressed for d-men since they were two short and Ty made the decision to return to action.

YAPPITY YAP (ON'T TALK BACK!): Tychon's Brett Bowman received a rare game misconduct for abuse of officials. The ejection occurred with Tychon pressing Fineline with 12 seconds left in OT when Bowman and a Fineline player got tangled up in front of the Fineline net and fell to the ice. When the refs did not assess any penalties Bowman confronted one them and argued. Looked like a baseball player confronting an umpire with a heated one minute argument following and tehn teh heave-ho coming. Only wish tehre had been video of it. Like watching Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo get between by the Ranger on Sat. morning cartoons.

SAVES of NIGHT:  It was another week of seeing some fabulous moves by several LSMHL netminders. Gillett metminder Chad Gillett made a fantastic move by using his stick and extending it out to the side to halt a Reid shot in the second period of their contest; Tychon's Jake Walton must have left Fineline's Kevin Kantati shaking his head as Walton halted two breakaway attemopts by Kantati;  HP's Michael Marcovecchio stoned Jeron Kir (Gabriele's) on a breakaway attempt and Reid's Steve Avelar turned aside some serious Gillett scoring attempts.

AN INCH OFF - HP's  Brayden Zuidema watched as his bullet shot rucchoted off teh post making a loud sound but staying out of the net in the second period of their game vs Gabriele's.

PLAYERS OF THE NIGHT:  Among the best players of week four were: Fineline goalie Adam Howe and Tychon tender Jake Walton; Reid goalie Steve Avelar who turned another solid performance; Jeron Kir (Gabriele's), Michael Hryniuk (RFH),  Calyn Kir (RFH), Quinn Bowman (Gillett), Darren Taylor (Gillett), Kristian Pelling (Fineline) and Scott Florence (Gabriele's).

ENJOY THE DAY:  Here's wishing everyone an enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend  with family and friends.Try not to overdo it and we hope to see everyone back in action on Oct. 19. (Ty Ckark promises his team (Reid) leftover turkey and drinks and Cheese Bites crumbs while Dylan Impens (Fineline) will have hotdogs cookin'.)
