Season Six Show 91 - The great Tom Marechek checks in with the Review from Georgia, where he's the head lacrosse coach at Pace Academy. One of the all-time great attacks, Marechek was a four-time All-American at Syracuse, an All-Star in the NLL and PLL, a two-time world champion, and he played right between the Gait brothers, Gary and Paul, for a good portion of his career, making this intercollegiate trio the most dangerous attack in the history of the sport. It was a fun conversation about his career, and Tom tells us about a second generation of Marechek lacrosse players. We stop in and chat about box lacrosse equipment with our resident expert, Brice Brubaker, from 313 Lacrosse, while Chris Kolon tells you what to look for in a box lacrosse program as part of the Michigan Team 91 minute. We finish the November episode of the Michigan Lacrosse Review, conversing with Mark Koesterer, the president of The Player's NIL, an educational program designed to enlighten and inform the 98 percent of student-athletes headed towards college who don't expect to make millions on their name, image, and likeness. This is something every lacrosse player should hear if you have college aspirations, because Mark talks truth to power.
Season Six Show 90 - The sixth season of the Michigan Lacrosse Review starts us in October with a discussion about shoes, recruiting and sticks. We spent some time with legendary Cuse' star Ryan Powell, who tells us about the latest entries from Powell Lacrosse and we slide into a discussion about an up-and-coming lacrosse coach headed for stardom in J.D. Hess, who moves from the top spot at Cranbrook to the head coach at Detroit County Day School. Chris Kolon talks recruiting, so here's the first installment of the sixth season of the Review.
Season 5 Show 88- Injuries, declining JV, Don Sheehan- As we move towards the middle of the college lacrosse season, and the start of the MHSAA high school campaign, we discuss the scourge of injuries, the rash of collapsing junior varsity programs and spend a few minutes with one the best coaches in college lacrosse, who might have the least 'personal profile.' Le Moyne College men's lacrosse visits the University of Detroit Mercy Saturday to compete in an NEC league contest and the Review spent a few moments with legendary coach Dan Sheehan, who boasts six NCAA DII titles in his 29 years in Central New York, but when you hear his story from West Genesee to Ithaca College to Le Moyne, the historical aspect of his school's success will make sense, we hope to see you Saturday for Jersey Day at UDM, so stay tuned.

MICHIGAN LACROSSE REVIEW SEASON FIVE SHOW NO. 85 - The beginning of the MHSAA men's lacrosse season is just around the corner and the Review thought it might seek some early season brilliance from the best in the land. Season ; Show 84- Big Eyeblack Show
MICHIGAN LACROSSE REVIEW SEASON FIVE SHOW NO. 84 - The simplest of a single rule application will bring the biggest debate this year over something that could be understood much like our American politics. The divided world of eye black-or-no black will take a significant turn in the spring of 2025 as a new NFHS ruling narrows the use of the product to mostly fighting glare, which is what the product was designed to do. Much of the prep lacrosse community have witnessed student-athletes adorning their faces with eye black that would make Sitting Bull proud, but the new rules significantly reduce its use with the strongest penalty to date including a non-releasable bench penalty. One of MICHLOA's finest, Brian Effinger, will try to explain the rule. We check in with some of the local NAIA teams this week as they begin play and our regular trio of panelists have some strong opinions about winning and losing, so please stay tuned.
Season Five Show No. 83 Michigan Lacrosse Review - MIAA Previews - MHSAA Seeding - The Coaches
Season 5:Episode 82- MIAA Review- MHSAA Seeding Information
The college season is underway, and the Review checks in on the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) with brief stops at Hope and Alma colleges. The weekly trio of Chris Kolon, John Locy and Greg Normand chat briefly about the NCAA DI season opening and then we have a frank discussion about a MHSAA research paper about the state of team seeding for our post-season tournament. The discussion, brought to light by the MHSAA at an annual season ending meeting in June 2024, has worked its way off the back burner to the front of the stove and a ton of MHSAA head lacrosse coaches don't even know it was a discussion point, so we weigh in and I think you might be surprised. We, men's lacrosse, are the only seeded sport in the MHSAA family since the inception in 2022. Stay tuned because you might learn something.
