After delays due to the shooting and the snowstorm the 2006 playoff schedule is about to begin.
Tonight’s game between Lincoln and Nariho is the final regular season D2 game remaining. The effect the outcome will have on the final standings won’t be known until the results are entered into the RPI system by the teams' competing. Depending on who wins, the game could result in some movement at the top and bottom of the final standings - or it might not. With the old traditional standings, the impact of the game’s possibilities could be determined beforehand. Not so with RPI. Portsmouth is currently in first place atop the D2 standings. Whether the team stays there or drops to number 2 won’t be known until the RPI algorithm determines the final standings. In either case, the Patriots will take on the winner of one of the two play-in games next weekend. Which one won’t be known until the completion of those games on Monday.
