Make a Wish foundation event
Wish kid, Reeve, and his mother drop the puck at Sundays Railer Express home game vs the Raiders. The club partnered with Make a Wish Foundation to raise awareness and support for Reeve, one of this year's wish kids. We are please to be able support them with our 50/50 raffle proceeds, a signed team jersey raffle and many individual donations to raise $800 in support of Make Wish endeavors. Thank you to all who participated.
About our Wish Kid Reeve :
Like any 9 year old, Reeve loves cars, trucks and vehicles of all kinds!. Reeve recently started to play sledge hockey and received the hardest working player award after one of his first games!
Reeve’s Dad Shawn calls his son Superman because of everything he’s been through. Reeve was born with Sturge-Weber and Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome. Sturge-Weber syndrome is a congenital disorder characterized by a port wine birthmark, neurological abnormalities causing seizures, and glaucoma. Klippel-trenaunay syndrome affects the development of blood vessels, soft tissue (overgrowth) and bones in the lower part of the body.
Reeve’s seizures started at 16 months old, and he required multiple hospitalizations. He underwent his first brain surgery for seizures in 2017, where he had to relearn how to sit, stand, and walk. He has since had three more brain surgeries removing the right half of his brain.
His wish for a camper came true last summer before this type of wish was discontinued. “My wish is special because I get to spend lots of time with my family, and I love camping”, Reeve said. His wish will provide Reeve and his family with lifelong memories doing something he loves.
