11/17/2024

On an early Sunday game before the Grey Cup the Express and Hawks faced off to determine who gets 1st place in MMJHL standings. This was a battle of 1st place teams and a full East End Arena was treated to an outstanding game with no one left disappointed, except the Hawks.
The Express came out fast and jumped on the Hawks early with Todoruk breaking the bubble in the first few minutes. The play went back and forth with 2 fast skating clubs trading chances.  The Express opened up a 2-0 lead by the end of one as rookie Pruden notched his 2nd of the season.
The Hawks took advantage of a couple power plays in the 2nd to tie the game but newcomer Johnson pick up his 1st goal in MMJHL then Chudley scored to give us our two goal lead back by the end of the 2nd.
The 3rd continued the fast pace and chances at both ends. The Hawks got to within 1 but that was all they could muster as the Express have now taken sole possession of 1st place in MMJHL

Next home game is Sunday Nov 24 when the defending champs, St James Canucks come to Transcona.
