Code Of Conduct
PLAYER AGREEMENT
The essential elements of character-building and ethics in sports are embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and six core principles: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship.
As a WYBSA player, I therefore agree:
I will follow social distancing guidelines set by local and state authorities.
I will learn the rules of the game and the policies of the league.
I will be a positive role model and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy to all players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
I will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct such as booing, taunting, refusing to shake hands, or using profane language or gestures.
I will play by the rules and resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
I will treat all players, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex, ability, national origin, or sexual orientation.
I will respect the umpires and league officials and their authority. I will never dispute, challenge, or argue their decisions.
I will respect my coaches and their authority. I will listen to their instructions and speak with them at appropriate times if I have questions.
I will remember that all coaches are donating their time to help me learn.
I will inform my coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect my safety or the safety of others.
I will not engage in any behavior that would endanger the health and well-being of myself or other athletes.
I will keep my sports environment free from drugs, alcohol, and tobacco (including vaping), and I will refrain from their use.
I will remember that I participate to have fun and improve my skills.
I will do my best at every practice and game, knowing that effort is more important than the final score.
I will support my teammates and never ridicule or yell at any participant for making a mistake or losing a game.
I will stay in the dugout with my team during games unless given permission by my coach to leave.
I agree that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, I will be subject to disciplinary actions by WYBSA that could include, but are not limited to:
Verbal warning by an official, head coach, and/or WYBSA Board Member.
Written warning.
Game suspension or immediate ejection from an event.
Season suspension or suspension for multiple events.
As a registered player in the WYBSA, your acceptance of this Code of Conduct is a requirement of the registration process.
